The Beast's Lair receives the Aardvark Award

I'm just so thankful for people of all denominations who read The Beast's Lair. I have been awarded the Aardvark Award for my recent post "Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and Baptists." I thank you.

I think that's great. The best type of ecumenism is when Christians of different schools of thought have careful and respectful exchanges. We can rejoice over our common ground. I don't suggest a post-modern "everyone-is-right" doctrinal relativism either. I don't mind doctrinal discussion and debate over disagreements. It is healthy and should happen.

After reading your blog for quite some time now, I know that we have much in common though you are Baptist and I am Lutheran. I am in favor of attempting to overcome our disagreements instead of denying them or sweeping them under the rug. But this does not have to be adversarial and should not be.

I am also delighted that you are studying at a fine Baptist seminary which a strong reputation and noteworthy faculty. I have noticed an exciting new dimension in your blog since your enrollment. Enjoy. And if you ever have the room in your curriculum, try reading a bit of Martin Luther. God bless!!!
